About centi & how to play

What is centi?

centi is a free browser game in the .io style: you steer a centipede across the surface of a 3D globe, eat pellets to grow, and run rivals into your body to eat them. Because the world is a sphere there are no edges to the map. Ten sinkholes and two wandering storms pull you in if you get close, and the portals at the north and south poles jump you to the far side of the planet.

How to play

  • Mouse: your centipede follows the cursor. Hold the button to boost.
  • Touch: tap and hold the left or right side of the screen to steer; two fingers to boost; pinch to zoom.
  • Keyboard: arrow keys or A/D to steer, space to boost, C to switch camera, V for cinematic mode.
  • Boost costs length, so spend it to escape a storm or to cut across another centipede's path.
  • Head into any body and you die; the dead leave jelly worth double a pellet.
  • Portals are open while green, amber with 5 seconds left, red with 1 second left. If either pole closes while your body is still passing through, the far half is cut off.

Opponents

Online you share a globe with up to 40 other players, with bots filling the empty places. Solo you face nine AI centipedes in three tiers: Intern, Gopher and Rookie are easy; Henchman, Enforcer and Bouncer feed and avoid well; Boss, Warden and Assassin hunt you once you're big enough to be worth it.
